ATPL Performance and Loading (Aeroplane)

ATPL Performance and Loading (Aeroplane) (APLA)

The main focus on this subject relates to weight and balance considerations in transport category aeroplanes.

There are essentially 2 subject areas in this course:

Loading:

This looks at take off and landing performance, weight limitations and load and balance calculations. Like the flight planning subject, most calculations are based on the Boeing 727 as an example of this category of aircraft.

Performance:

Theoretical aspects of aircraft performance are the main consideration for this component. This includes the significance of the 3 take off speeds: V1, VR and V2. Another major focus is a study the certification requirements that are imposed on transport category aeroplanes. All airline aircraft must meet these requirements before being permitted to go into service.
